Offers desktop computers, lcd monitors, flat panel display, small footprint pc and ergonomic workstations. Support for Linux is limited, and not fully supported. However, many thin client computer customers have successfully installed various implementations of Linux on the Elite using third-party generic drivers. Cybernet has tested Red Hat Linux and provides lcd flat panel monitor video drivers on its website. This personal computer installation requires experienced technical person only. OS/2 is not supported by the Elite due to lack of drivers, and BIOS support. The DC power requirement of the Elite is DC +12Volts, 6.5AMPS. Therefore, a mobile application would require a custom-built battery pack. By using either the PCI slot for the lcd flat panel monitor, or the 10/100 RJ-45 Ethernet port, a wireless LAN adapter can be connected to the Elite-I thin client computer, so it can participate in a Wireless LAN. The on-board Ethernet facilitates the use of an RPL boot EPROM on the motherboard. You may also install a LAN adapter of your choice to implement Remote Boot. A personal computer Keyboard Plastic Skin Protector (part # ZPC1005/ZPC2011) is available for the Elite-I/Elite-II. It's a transparent cover, which hugs the keytop matrix, with adhesive tape edges, and is upgradeable in the field. The PS/2 POS port on the back of the Elite personal computer has an enhanced (bi-directional) pin definition compared to a standard PS/2 keyboard port. Therefore regular PS/2 port devices will not work if plugged directly to the Elite POS port. The POS Y-cable (ZPC1012) separates the bi-directional lcd flat panel monitor signal into an OUT-PS/2 connector and an IN-PS/2 connector. While no POS devices are attached to this cable, the ends of the Y-cable must be connected together, in order for the Elite key top matrix to function. You must first attach the POS Y-Cable (ZPC1012) to the rear of the Elite thin client computer unit. Then you can connect any POS lcd flat panel monitor device to the end of Y-Cable. You also need to carry out the procedure in the Elite User's Guide, to setup the POS port. The PS/2 style POS port is for Point Of Sale (POS) applications. The thin client computer facilitates connecting POS Wedge devices, via the POS Y-cable. This allows for keyboard input data into the system. You can attach a regular personal computer PC keyboard to the Elite, and use it instead of the built-in keytop matrix. In order to do this, you need to obtain our POS Y-cable (ZPC1012), and plug it into the POS port on the back of the unit.
